I feel terribly sorry for Serena Williams!?

I'm a huge Serena fan and to stomach this first round loss has bothered me all day. I know I shouldn't let it get to me because it's a tennis match and there are more important things to worry about.

But she lost her chance to earn more points and get closer to the No. 1 ranking.
Her impeccable and impressive 46-0 win streak in first round matches.
The chance to prove all the doubters wrong that she can come back and be the best again.

I think people hyped her up a little, but she played so well at three tournaments (besides the match withdrawal).

I have not seen the match, but I have to give credit for Razzano for playing so well. Hopefully she does well in her next match.

The French Open is always full of upsets. Azarenka almost got upset in the first round, but she fought back. Serena did too, but I think she choked and it's very sad because it is unlike her.

Clijsters also flamed out last year in the second round after having chances to win the match. So dissappointing.

Question 1: Do you think Serena can win another Slam?
Question 2: Who will win the women's title now?

Yeah she lost her chance to be closer to no.1 but she still have chances to gain a lot of point at wimbledon(if she wins it) since she lost early last year. And she could collect some more points after the u.s open so she might have the chance to be world no.1 before the end of the season.

Q1 : Well she beat Azarenka and Sharapova back to back on clay. It wasnt even her best surface so just imagine how well she would do at WImbledon and U.S open.

Q2 : I dont think Azarenka is really good on clay, so the best women left is Sharapova. And she is definitely my second choice after Serena. Stosur might have a good shot at winnig it, but Sharapova is hungry for another GS and she looks on fire in her 1st round match.

It was a shock loss I must admit. But having said that, I know you're disappointed right now but please don't be. Serena has had a lot of success in her career. Most tennis players would kill for all the titles that she has. This is just another set back for Serena and to be fair to Razzano she played well. She knew Serena wasn't playing her best so she took her chances. French Open is so wide open now especially in the women's side. If you have an off day even if your name is Sharapova you will be most likely to be trounced.

As for your question, yes I think Serena can still win Slam even more so the Olympics this year. Bear in mind its on grass. And we know how good Serena is on grass. So her best bet is Wimbledon or Olympics this year.

I think Sharapova has will win it. As much as it pains me to say that. She has been playing the best and consistent tennis so far among the women. So I wouldn't be shock if she completes her career Grand Slam. Otherwise, could be down to Li Na/ Sam Stosur.

wow this is a big WTF moment!>

holy FCK. cannot believe it Serena went out to Virgina Razzano in round 1?

this is a combination of miscues.. serena was up 5-2... let her guard down... and razzano found a way in.... the serena errors kept building.. razzano capitalized.. serena got a bit stunned with 2 sketchy shots that were awarded to razzano... this was the turning point in the match

then in set 3 serena self destructed and razzano took off to a 5-0 lead.. wow...? serena fought back to 3-5... but the errors piled up.. wow..

credit to razzano for being mentally tough on the bigger points

i don't see serena winning another slam this season

i have a feeling the french open will be won by sharpova or Victoria Azarenka.. or Radwanska :)

I can't stand Serena. Just thought I would mention that.

1. Yes I think Seren can still win a slam.

2. I really don't know who will win. Wide open. Everyone thinks Sharapova is favorite now, but this is her worst surface. This is the only Slam she has not won. I hope she does though, I like her.

Yes for sure she can win another grand slam. The favorites now are na li and sharapova but i'm thinking about a surprise like ivanovic for exemple. She has shown me a great performance in her two match and ha conviced me that she can do it.

Well, so it's life.

And that's why sport is so great - you can never be sure.

Well I don't!! The girl didn't deserve to win yesterday, while on the other hand, Razzano did. All I can say because those girls, the William sisters, have had their day and Serena over her sister, is arrogant to a fault. So I'm more than glad to see her get her just deserts. She was, yesterday, simply outplayed for most of the match. Them's the breaks.
