What was your favorite rivalry of the 80's and 90's?

My choices (Of course, they don't have to be yours)
1. Martina vs Chrissy : The ultimate rivalry, they brought out best in each other.
2. Martina vs Steffi : Would have liked seeing Martina playing Steffi in her prime.
3. Steffi vs Monica : Both had the power and shots.
4. Steffi vs Sabatini : Sabatini beat Steffi more than any other player, and most of their matches went 3 sets.
5. Mary Joe Fernandez vs Sabatini : Mary Joe definately had Sabatini's number, but coudn't beat Monica or Steffi.
6. Sabatini vs Arantxa Sanchez : Sabatini won their early contests, but Arantxa beat Sabatini later in rivalry.

Well I was gonna say McEnroe/Connors til I saw the choices. But #1 definitely was the fav women's rivalry - MArtina/Chrissy. I agree with #2 - Martina in her prime vs. Steffi in her prime would have been amazing to see.

Actually, Martina Navratilova and Steffi Graf did play when both were in their primes. Martina beat Steffi in the 1991 US Open semis where they both played a brilliant match. Both were on top of their games and Martina won 7-6, 6-7, 6-4. I have the match on video.

Navratilova vs. Evert is the greatest tennis rivalry of all time, men or women. Two other great ones not on your list was Navratilova vs. Austin (Martina leads 20-13) and Austin vs. Evert (Austin leads 9-8).

I like number one. I wasn't even born yet when they started but I love them both. I have been looking everywhere to try and find their full matches but alas I have had no luck.
