Question:
Now when Djokovic has become so good,do you think Nadal will ever reach Federer record of 16 Grand Slam titles?

After winning his 9. Grand Slam last year at the age of only 24 years, 3 months (Federer was 25 years, 1 month old when he won his 9. Slam) I was sure Nadal will break Federer's record. Especially because as Federer gets older and older, it will be even easier for Nadal to win another 9-10 Grand Slams in the next 5-7 years.

But now we have Djokovic who has proven to be better than Nadal on every surface. If he wins the US Open (and I'm 70% sure he will) Nadal will have another 1-Grand Slam year. Djokovic has actually reached the US Open final more times than Nadal so he's clearly a favourite to win. Djokovic himself, a 3-time Grand Slam winner, is too old(24) to break Federer's records (Nadal was 21 and Federer was 22 when winning 3. Grand Slam), but he's young enough and good enough to destroy Nadal's chances isn't he?

Djokovic or no Djokovic, Nadal will not reach Federer's record. He will win 12 Slams overall I think. One more French Open and one more Wimbledon. Nadal is playing in a totally different era. In the 2007-2011 period he had so many good players to beat- Federer, Djokovic, Murray, Del Potro and other dangerous players like Roddick and Soderling who were in form at the time so he wasn't able to win so many slams. Federer on the other hand was in his prime in a very weak era. His only rival back in 2004-2007 was Roddick who he has a 21-2 record against and Nadal on clay so Federer was dominating for such a long time. Djokovic is also in a very weak era with Nadal and Federer in the twilight of their careers. Djokovic is much better than Murray,Del Potro and Tsonga so basically he has no rival these days. The ATP is such a mess.

I definitely agree with you in this one. Nadal has six more grand slam just to even with Federer not saying to surpass him. The rise of Djokovic make it difficult for him to break Federer record. Plus with Federer play of style, I think he can last pretty long. Imagine at age 30 still manage to stay in the top 3. Not many people can do that. I still think there's still 1-2 grand slam in Federer to win. Another problem are injuries. With Nadal playing, he will not only injured himself as well as burn out in early age. In order to break Federer record, Nadal must at least win 7 straight grand slam till French Open of 2013, provided Federer don't win slam anymore.

It's definitely possible for him to do it but because Nadal is prone to injuries, (and obviously because Djokovic does seem to be dominating tennis nowadays) I think it's possible that Nadal will burn out. Federer is a very consistent player and long-lasting I think. There's also a possibility that Federer might get in another Grand Slam, (although I think that's unlikely given the current circumstanses).

For me, Roger is the greatest player of all-time and I can't see Djokovic or Nadal beating his record. I also can't imagine Nadal or Djokovic being World Number 3 at age 30 either ;)

Federrer couldn't beat Sampras and he got good and his only competition was Andy Roddick. He was lucky he didn't have Nadal when he first started. So now it will be between Nadal and Jokovic. Nadal might not do it now. Nadal will become injured later on. He'll win 13 or 14, but Federrer won so many in succession. He was winning 3 a year almost. Now you got Murray, Nadal and Jokovic and I don't see Federrer's record being broken anytime soon.
