you could try eurosport. you can subscribe online and it's quite cheap. also, if you google australian open live streaming you will find links. lshunter.tv and oleoletv.com are good, they are both free.

Check out all your sports channels while AO is on. If you don't find it then watch here : www.frombar.tv

The best way is to sign up to bet365.com and then all you have to do is deposit a couple of quid and keep it in there as a balance and you have live, safe, streaming of all of the main court matches. This is better than using any dodgy streaming site online where you could get a virus, and are plagued with pop up adverts every two seconds.

I also live in the UK and had freeview for a while before I got Virgin installed. When I had freeview I used to use the website below to watch live football matches, pro wrestling pay per views and other major sporting events. The Australian Open begins on 14 January and coverage of it begins here in the United Kingdom from midnight on that Sunday on British Eurosport. If I find any other websites that give live coverage of the Australian Open I will post them here.

Well Sky Sports were never going to show extensive coverage of the Australian Open anyway. If you have Eurosport on your TV then you have the correct channel, because it is Eurosport who are covering the Australian Open this year in the UK.
If this fails, revert to live streams:

Save the link below and see if if has any new information for you in a few days. Right now it has no TV listings, but I should think that they'll "fill it up" pretty soon :-)
Please be aware though considering the times of the matches in the UK you won't get to see alot of what they broadcast (unless On Demand covers it, which I doubt).
If you can't afford that or just don't particularly care about where you watch it or the quality of picture then you will be able to watch matches from the Australian Open on Stream Hunter.

You can watch Miss. Victoria Azarenka win her 2nd Aussie title right there on Tv sets or PC Tv.
She will demolish all the non-talented wta players.
Go Azarenka!
