Well I mean I have never heard it but I would think it happens. I know what you mean in that Djokovic played better, and Murray just had no gas left in the tank after taking a beating in the last two sets. I mean I guess maybe commentators, felt they were wrong about the match, and are trying to cover their story, I don't really know.

I know how you feel. During the AO I had to watch British Eurosport. Now I love their commentary but Greg Rudeski and some other commentator (not Chris Bradnum or Jo Durie :) ) we're saying that Andy would breeze through the tournament, and after the final they said the blisters had a major role in his loss. Now I've played with blisters before, and they're sore for about a minute.

I suggest that a British commentary will usually look for reasons why, which may not be relevant. However, there's no doubt in the case of the Finals yesterday, Murray's foot (blisters) was bound to have some influence on how well he could play after the first couple of sets - plain to see don't you think? Djokovic may not have had it quite so easy in the final sets, had Murray not had this problem - did you SEE what that foot looked like?

Djokovic took advantage, quite rightly, of Murray's situation, and had it been the other way round, Murray would have done the same.

Yes Djokovic out played him, but fans of all players make excuses when they lose.

I wasn't aware anyone made excuses for him, i watched on BBC and they didn't make any excuses, in his runner up speech Murray said Djokovic deserved to win, in the news articles i read nobody was making excuses for him, could you provide some links?

Did you see his foot? It was pretty difficult to look at.

And his upper thigh also appeared to be giving him pain.

It's not an excuse but it should be acknowledged. In my opinion, if Murray wasn't injured he would have taken out the grand slam. However, in saying that, a champion needs to be able to break through the pain, which Murray was clearly not capable of.

Well played Djokovic.

British commentary will inevitably have some degree of bias towards British players/teams. I don't doubt it will be similar in other countries.

Same reason they make excuses for the England teams abysmal performances. Bias.
