It's certainly possible that Federer could get the calendar grand slam, but I don't think it is at all likely. If any player was to get the calendar grand slam though, I would say that Federer would have the best chance.

It is so hard to do, with the level of competition and the depth of player talent these days, it is unlikely that anyone will ever have a calendar grand slam again.

EDIT: Oh and Mexicanhatdancer, I don't think you can really include players like Davydenko and Soderling and others on that list as players who give Federer trouble as they are a combined 0-1,000,000 against him. :0.
Roger Federer rocks

He can do it. But not too sure he will. I am such a huge Federer fan that I actually stay upset for a week when he loses a final. But youngsters have got to come up. Del Potro, Murray( personally I think Murray is a bastard). I hate Nadal. He is gay and should just take a trip to Las Vegas, retiring from Tennis.

I want Federer to win and I know he can win.

And the Rafael Djokovic guy, get a perspective man. I know a lot of people support Nadal. He is really popular but you have got to respect a man who has won the highest number of grand slams ever. Roger is great. And I really do not think roger would care about respect from you, aside the fact that you are a huge celebrity. :P He rocks

I think he will likely final 3 or all 4. If he can win all of them, it's up to him. Honestly, he won 3 several times before, but this year was the closest he was to doing it. He was 4 games from winning Australia, 2 points from winning the US, finally won the French and battled for Wimbledon. That's closer than the last couple times where he struggled at the French.

"If he win the French Open next year against Nadal, i'll be a FAN of him and he will finally get respect form me..."

By that logic, you should rightfully only be a fan of and respect Soderling. Stop being a child and give the man his due. He only hold all the records for a reason. He is great. Stop being a hater.

I'm a big Fed fan and I would love to see him do it, but it's a tall order. His record of 22 consecutive Grand Slam semi-finals is incredible, because it means he always puts himself in a position to win. It's certainly not impossible, but when you think of all the things that can happen--injury, illness, or just having a bad day at the wrong time---I don't think it will happen. I'd love to be proven wrong, though. Maybe he'll get a Federer Slam! Actually, winning four Slams in a row is a great accomplishment whether you do it in a calendar year or not.

I really hope he can pull it off but being completely honest, i doubt it. His best shot is once again at Wimbledon, and then the US. I wouldn't expect him to win the French again, but other than Nadal winning it, I can not see anyone else but him winning. So if not Nadal it will probably be Federer.

I think the US is the most open tournament, but it will be between Delpo, Fed, Murray and Djoko.

The Aussie will be Federer's or Murray's, possibly Nadal's. Because its right at the beginning of the year its hard to say he will be playing great so you got to back the veterans; the top 5 - although Federer wasnt playing great last year and still almost won.

I think Federer and Nadal were both in trouble because of the depth of men's game (they are still both AMAZING!) but I am really hoping that it's a Fed and Nadal final and that Federer wins.. It would be great for him to beat Nadal at wimbledon but that's just my personal opinion!!

Federer will win all 4 grand slams?

Let's look at the contendors for a moment:

-Rafael Nadal

-Novak Djokovic

-Andy Murray

-Andy Roddick

-Juan del Potro

And the players who can cause a player such as Federer plenty of trouble:

-Soderling

-Gonzalez

-Verdasco

-Tsonga

-Monfils

-Davydenko (maybe)

-Haas

-Isner

-Cilic

-Hewitt

So as you can see the men's top players are getting closer to eachother every week. Its so close yet they are so dominant. Federer happens to be at the top though, but i dont think he is by much. Im not taking anything away from him or any of the other players, but when he won Wimbledon and Roland Garros this year he didnt face Rafa.

I see him winning Aussie and Wimbledon. Rafa will retake Roland Garros and Djokovic will win US Open

****FF15M- lol Davydenko will have his time, nobody can beat him 20 times in a row, lol!

he wont do the calendar slam cos nadal will by dying to get his RG crown back and he is immense on clay.

i think fed will win Australian open, he hasn't won it for a couple of years now and wants it big time after this years final. don't think he will retain RG and not just cos of nadal but he didn't play that well this year on the clay and haas and del potro really choked at RG. he should retain wimbledon regardless of nadal but then again it would be his 8th consecutive final there, these runs have to end some time so maybe he wont make it to the final this year?? and i think he will get his US back, shouldn't have lost at all to del potro and will want to reclaim that title.

Australian Open = Federer

Roland Garros = Nadal

Wimbledon = Murray

US Open = Federer

No, he will win only 1 major next year and that is Wimbledon. He won't win any other. He will lose RG in probably either the quarters or the semis, Nadal will eventually win it barring another injury. He will probably either make the semis or finals of AO but won't win that either since he is now vulnerable on hardcourt. I don't see a US win either since there will be too much up and coming competition going into the US Open series later in the year.

isn't that kinda of tough now? and its also a very big expectation to have..

federer is getting older.. yes i know he is still young and he is not done yet... but nobody these days can win all four majors.. because there is too much competition.. and too many things that can go wrong.. players burn out alot easier these days for one thing.. because of the calender year..

and there are a few players who are lined up and due for there first slam win.Andy murray, Tsonga, Giles simon, etc

then there are players who can regularly give federer a run for his money.. Nadal, Djovick, Del petro.. who will probably go on to win his next slam

not saying fed cannot do it.. but its getting harder and harder.... i say he will win 1 - 2 slams.. and thats if he is on his A game

That's what we all would like; however, I doubt it.

Maybe he will get Australia and Wimbledon but not the other 2.

Remember that he now has the babies and that will diminish his performance due to all the complications of traveling with children and all those stuffs.

Realistically, I'm not sure if he can win all 4, but I am a huge fan of Federer, so I will support him no matter what happens :). Go Federer!!!
2009-11-03 18:48:03 UTC
as of late i dont think that he is the player to beat, the ATP is really heating up, and many of the players are playing well, (IE Djokovic, Murray, Nadal)

He will probably need to step his game up a bit to win all 4 slams, & to defend his titles in 2010..

I think that 2010 will be a pretty tough year for him.

It's going to be tough! But, I do believe he'll win Wimbledon! Hopefully he wins the Australian open, because if he does, then it will be very interesting come the french open!!!!!!!!! Roger Federer defending Roland Garros champion!

In my opinion he can win 2

Next Year, it will be a big target for Federer to break Sampras ATP record.

I hope Federer can win Australia Open again to equalise Aggasi's record.

I hope Federer can succesfully defend his Wimbledon Champion to equalise Sampras's recod.

But, I found that he has changed his focus to play more clay tournament to prepare for defending French Open Title next year.

In my analysis,

Australia Open - he may get into at least semi-final, final or champion.

French Open - he may get into at least quarter-final, semi-final.

Wimbledon Open - he may get into at least final or champion,

US Open - he may get into at least semi-final, final or champion.

I don't think he will...There are too many good players out there. I think he'll win 1 or 2.

If he win the French Open next year against Nadal, i'll be a FAN of him and he will finally get respect form me...

His win in the French last year was essentially a fluke. Nadal was hurting and got knocked out early. Federer won't win it again. Typically he also hasn't done well down under, at least relatively speaking. I will be somewhat surprised if he wins the Aussie next year, but not as surprised as I would be for the French.
2009-11-03 12:00:19 UTC
yea i think so, but he has nothing to prove anymore, now with his kids and family, i think he should start focusing on them now

even if he doesnt win all 4 he will at least win 2 or 3.....

he will have nadal on his tail.....but he will WIN....

GO ROGER FEDERER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
