So women's tennis year is over now & I thought lets know abt which tennis story/news shocked u the most this year...(well shocking can be unpleasant as well as pleasant)...!!!!!

So here is mine...

NO.1
RETIREMENT OF ELENA DEMENTIEVA : To me she is the best non grand slam winner ever....one of the most talented,hardworking & deserving every best thing in tennis. She was only 29 & had lots in her.....I really feel that more she need tennis...tennis need her :( It's really sad that tennis possibly will never witness the ultimate fan favorite,blue eyed star of tennis :(
I don't know abt others but Elena is one player among few whom I really use to admire & respect & I will be really happy if she COME BACK (unlike few)!!!!

SERENA WILLIAMS MISSED HALF OF 2010 : I don't how much shocking is it for others but for me it was most shocking & sad news of 2010 (& if Elena didn't retired this yr...this had to be my Top 1)....Serena has done it....really the accident that happen 1 in a trillion...she has achieved that!!!!! When she missed the US Open it was a shock for me,coz I wanted her do really well this year...but....& it wasn't enough her injury continued & she fail to participate in any tourney after that (not even the YEC) & as expected she lost the no. 1 ranking.

COMEBACK OF ANA IVANOVIC: Now this one is the PLEASANT ONE After such bad years Miss Ivanovic finally showed to the world that she is not over yet....when everyone thought(well almost..)Ana is over now at the end of the season she won Bali & Linz.

VENUS WILLIAMS LOST IN WIMBLEDON QUARTERFINAL:the 5 time wimbledon champion & last 3 yrs finalist lost in the quarterfinals to 82nd ranked Tsvetana Pironkova in straight sets. So that was another shock (unpleasant) for me as well.

There are other imp & shocking news happened among which I wd like to mention like....
#Francesca winning her maiden slam at the age of 29
#Kim winning USO once again & we once again able to witness the unforgettable mommy Kim wth her adorable daughter.
#Caro with her consistent game got the no.1 ranking.
#Maria got engaged.

Well you totally used all the good answers :)

I think the most shocking was Francesca winning the French Open. Yes, Elena retiring was upsetting, but we new it was coming soon (not "that" soon, but soon). Nobody would ever pick Schiavone to win a slam, at age 30. She had never even come close. So Francesca as #1, Elena as #2, and how about Wimbledon semifinalists Kvitova and Pironkova (especially her beating Venus). That was stunning. Vera as a Grand Slam finalist was surprising, nobody thought much of her.

Yeah, it's very dissapointing. She will have a baby soon and soon tennis will be too much for her. I hope she does a Kim Clijsters. Has a baby, retires and then comes back stronger than ever.

The Williams sisters with their odd tennis clothing was a shocking and controversial story. Maybe not in the top 3 but it was quite controversial.
