given the fact that womens tennis today is more competive, deeper, and alot more power then in steffi's era..... i would have to say Justine would win most or the majorirty of the meetings...

Steffi was excellent a true champion... but it was a very different time.. if Justine henin was around in that time period she would have won more and more slams..

considering as well the willam sisters being so powerfull, and justine henin being able to overcome them, that would make it more likely that she can out play Steffi... Jusitne is probably even faster, a much greater backhand, and more complete game..

There was a player known as Gabrielle SABANTANI... she would trouble Graf, and even defeat her at times.. and she had no where near the weapons or power Justine had

Graf would have beaten Henin if they both played in their prime. Even when Graf was past her prime in 1999 she was still able to beat all the top players, winning the French Open and reaching the Wimbledon final that year, which was 2 of the last 3 tournaments she played in before retiring from the game.

If they played now, I would pick Henin. If Graf was able to play at her best level, as of a few years ago, I think she would win most of the matches, but Henin would win some of them. They are (or were) both very good.

Edit: I watched a lot of Graf's matches on television. I don't think many people realize that she could hit topspin backhands when she needed to, although she usually hit slice. I think she would have been able to adapt to todays hard hitters since she was so athletic.

I loved Graf, but she would lose on probably any surface. You do realize her forehand while certainly more accurate than many of the girls today is not nearly as powerful. Henin would exploit Graf's backhand and beat her rather easily on any surface (except grass, but even there I think Henin would win)

You mean Henin (now) vs Graf (now). That's easy. Justine will win EASILY.

Henis vs Graf (both in their prime) would be a more interesting match up. I'd still give the edge to Henin since she has a more solid backhand, and Graf's backhand was a disaster.

Well Steffi is taller which would give her a reach advantage, longer legs which gives her a speed & court coverage advantage. Steffi has won more Grand Slam singles titles in her career up to the point that Justine is at now, won Wimbledon 3 times whereas Justine has only been a Finalist twice, and was higher ranked in doubles thanks in part to Sabatini who was an excellent partner. She reached 31 Grand Slam singles finals, third overall behind Evert (34 finals) and Navratilova (32 finals) in her 18 year career. In 9 years Justine has been in only 9 finals.

Justine is playing in an era where women are much tougher and better players than when Steffi dominated the game, and Justine has won an Olympic Gold in singles compared to Steffi's Gold & Silver in singles & Bronze in doubles. Justine has great topspin and slice and hits both fairly evenly where as Steffi always favoured her slice despite having a superb topspin backhand. Justine's forehand is more consistent despite Steffi's being more flat & penetrating. Justine won her first Grandslam after 5 years while Steffi took 6 years.

Justine turned pro the year that Steffi retired so their head to head is non existent. If they were to play today I would give Justine every match but both playing in their prime I would be tempted to give the edge to Steffi just due to the mental toughness factor, & height & reach advantages. She hardly ever lost in Slam finals and when she did it was only to one of five players - Sanchez-Vicario, Navritalova, Seles, Davenport or her doubles partner Sabatini. Justine only looses to Sharapova, V.Williams, or Mauresmo in Slam finals so far.

i think graf cos henin is not particularly great on grass

if they met in their primes definitely graf would win but if they play now maybe henin would

If they played right now, Justine would win. if Steffi practiced and got back into shape, it would be close, but I think Steffi would win.
